My name is Heidi aka Hi. I’ve been a runner since 2012, and I have had Type 1 Diabetes since 2011. With 10 half marathons under my belt, I decided it was time to take it to the next level and run a marathon. I completed the New York City Marathon on Nov. 1, 2015–a few days after my four-year “dia-versary” and on Type 1 Diabetes Day!! This blog started out as a way chronicle that journey to the finish line at the marathon, but I have enjoyed writing about my experiences running and managing this chronic disease. I hope to provide some insight as to what it’s like to take on the challenge of running with diabetes (which is greatly impacted by nutrition and exercise, making it an even bigger feat). If any fellow people with diabetes have advice for me, feel free to share!
